A number of proposals submitted in round two address social inequalities, and almost all of them suggest that research into culture broadly and power dynamics more narrowly can help mitigate damage done by inequities. The workgroup's proposed thematic area "Research for Community and Social Benefit" is broadly derived from these proposals.
