Expanding Multilingual Resources for Integrative Health

Project Idea Status:

Title: Expanding Multilingual Resources for Integrative Health

Names of Project Leads: Denise Ruvalcaba

Description:

Approximately 25% of San Francisco’s population has limited English proficiency; the top non-English languages spoken by these individuals are Spanish and Cantonese.

Toward Equitable Patient Care: Reducing Stress and Intergroup Bias for Providers, Trainees, and Staff

Project Idea Status:

Most humans engage in some level of implicit intergroup bias, automatically activated prejudices or  stereotypes that may influence judgments of others based on group membership (e.g., ethnicity, gender). These biases can lead to discriminatory behaviors, even in individuals who are actively working toward equity. Given that clinical teams make lifesaving decisions for patients, reducing intergroup bias for providers and staff may have beneficial effects on patient care and outcomes.
