Many sex workers are victims of human trafficking (HT). These domestic or immigrant minors or adults are forced or coerced into sex work and are struggling with addiction, mental health problems and early childhood trauma. Our goal is to develop an online module to train health professionals in the UCSF community and beyond in evidence-based approaches to identifying HT victims and addressing their physical, legal and mental health needs.
2. Background and significance
Proposal Summary:
A significant proportion of patients with cancer receive radiation therapy during the course of their illness, and up to 50% of these patients are treated by palliative intent (Carvavatta 2011). The majority of patients with advanced cancer have physical and psychosocial symptoms that profoundly interfere with quality of life. Good communication with the oncologist can build a therapeutic relationship and improve patient adherence, reduce ineffectual treatments, and prevent mood symptoms (Back 2009).
